Create Effective & Memorable Presentations

When I started to make presentations, I made multiple mistakes. I talked longer than the allocated time, and about topics that were interesting for me but might not be for the attendees; I was finishing presentations minutes before going to the stage, and realising afterwards I forgot something very important.

I wasn’t doing a bad job on the delivery, but I knew I could do better, so I set myself a goal to improve. The question was where to start?

The first step I took was to watch as many speeches as I could from people I admired. I soaked in as much from them as I could, and that helped me.

However, that wasn’t enough, I knew I could do even better, so I started many read books on the matter, and took ideas and thoughts from each one of them.

Armed with all those learnings, I decided I needed to have a process and to have the discipline to follow it with every presentation I was going to work on.

Below you can find two articles that will walk you through that process, the result of more than 20 years of giving presentations around the world to audiences of all kind in multiple events and meetings:

You can find the summary of the articles in the following PDF as well, if you prefer to have a shorter version:

A template to use when organising the Presentation information, Outline and Story is available below.

If you want to improve your presentations even further, I recommend you get the book Resonate, by Nancy Duarte. You will find nothing better to master the art of telling stories that the audience will remember.
